healthy diet for picky eaters

It’s hard to lose weight when you’re a picky eater. It’s even harder when you don’t know if the few foods you do like are good for you or not. I’m going to name a few foods that you probably do like, that are also healthy, and that can help you lose weight.

  1. Chicken

If you’re not a vegetarian, chances are you like chicken. Chicken is absolutely one of the most delicious foods (in my opinion), and it is also a really good food to eat when you’re trying to lose weight. The low calories (~200 per 100g) and high protein (~35g per 100g) means you can eat quite a bit of chicken and only use up a small amount of your daily calories, while also getting a huge amount of protein.

  2. Green Smoothies

Here’s one for the vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Green smoothies are a great way of getting all of your green veges into your body in a delicious and nutritious smoothie. Simply pick a green vege (kale, broccoli, spinach, etc), chuck in a couple of bananas, pineapple, or strawberries, maybe some yoghurt or some sliced almonds, and put it all in a blender and let it blend. Depending on what you put in, you’ll be left with a great tasting green smoothie with as little as 200 calories and a bunch of vitamins and minerals. Here’s a pretty kickass recipe that uses kale and bananas.

  3. Fruit and Berries

There aren’t many people who dislike fruit, and if you are one of them, try your hardest to learn to love them. While they are higher in sugar and calories than vegetables (on average, at least), they also taste way better and offer a different variety of vitamins and minerals. And even though they are rather high in sugar and calories, they’re no-where near as high as sugary sweets or sodas, so if you were considering eating an orange instead of a chocolate bar and got a bit freaked when I said they were high in sugar and calories, relax, and eat the damn orange instead.

I used to be a picky eater, but I slowly forced myself to start eating healthier foods like broccoli, carrots, corn, and kale. After a while, it gets easier, and eventually you start to tolerate them, and in some cases, even enjoy them.
